The World in Photopoetry: Czech Republic
Prague is a kind of place to forget all the sadness! Cheap, funny and with much, much party. Night life there is full of energy and is impossible sleep before dawn. Clubs with 5 floors and beers costing half a dolar give a special climate to the city.
I arrived there in september, with warm weather and a hearty welcome. The hostels costs around 5 USD with swimming pool and big rooms. I spent there ten days on Carpe Diem and Carpe Noctem. Alcohol is so bloody cheap that is not allowed buy it after 22h in the markets. Czech Republic is know as the most alcoholic country in the world.
But is not just about fun there. Culture is widespread and you can see free concerts all around. Prague Castle worth a visit and the Sedlec Ossuary amazes everyone. There, human bones were used to ornament the place resulting in a macabre work. The ten-meter wide Charles Bridge is the most known spot in the city and has a rich baroque decoration that thrills all the folks. Sellers, artisans, singers, painters finish the work there. Don’t forget the striking St Vito Cathedral.
For who is coming from Western Europe, the atmosphere looks quite different. At the same time, thousands of travellers make the journey to the city. I met tons of brazilians there. We even had a special brazilian dinner in the hostel. Don’t need to say, english is the second language over there. If you are heading for it, don’t forget to try Becherovka, a traditional herbal bitters in Czech Republic. Chin-chin!
